Dr Kevin Sek Weng Yew is currently the resident Consultant Neuro and Spine surgeon in Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur. His area of expertise is in Neurosurgery, complex spine and Stereotactic Radiosurgery with particular interests in the fields of neuro-oncology (Brain and spine tumours), functional neurosurgery, complex spine and stereotactic radiosurgery.
He is constantly looking at the latest developments in his field and has great interest in integrating the latest medical technologies available to make surgery safer and more efficient.
His early medical education commenced with an M.D from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. He then returned to Malaysia to begin his medical training. He subsequently trained as a general surgeon and this culminated with the award of Master of surgery from the University of Malaya.
He subsequently began neurosurgical training and completed his training in the U.K. with the addition of a fellowship in the National Centre of Radiosurgery, Sheffield.
He successfully competed neurosurgical training with the completion of the FRCS (Neuro.surg) (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons) Edinburgh. His previous positions are as a Senior Lecturer and Neurosurgeon in the University of Malaya with more than 10years experience in the field of neurosurgery.
During his time in the University and abroad he has been involved in research and medical education. He returned to Malaysia and brought back with him the knowledge, new techniques and treatment plans for various neurosurgical and spine problems.
